Epitaph for the Soul
In your life and mine there is no difference,
That can’t be explained by statistical variance,
The time and the place might account for economics and race,
But the challenges we face,
May only vary in severity,
Our hierarchy of need,
Against the want and the greed,
Of those in control will put us all in a hole,
And we’ll cry for our mothers,
Who are crying for theirs,
So we stop depending on others,
And give up on our prayers,
We try to prove wrong who said “No man is an island”,
Yeah we try to be strong despite the weight that keeps pilin’,
At this rate we’ll resign to our fate,
To be engulfed by the fray before we can say,
Look what we’ve done and what we’ve become,
No more individual, just another part of the ritual,
Of a mass suicide, of hope and of pride,
It was in the end, our spirit that died.Â
