Poem -

One Day

Her eyes are deep wells reflecting the world around her,
but her own is murky.
She flows in and out of my life,
colliding into me like a wave.
She hugs me when we meet,
and I hold her tight trying to keep her from drifting away.
Every time I see her she has a new:
boyfriend,
hairstyle,
religion,
identity.
She says,
one day she will be beautiful,
one day she will be happy.
She says,
she wishes she could be more like me.
She never believes me when I say she is perfect just as she is.
She list her flaws like a grocery list.
She has been in my life for years,
but sometimes she still feels like a stranger.
Soon we will both go our separate ways again,
until next time.
