Onyx Rose
Downtrod tis angelic pose,
Kist by gild moon glows.
Rapturous face lifts to inhale,
Petrichor atmospheric trail.
Raindrops slip, thirst chastised,
Supple tender petals baptized.
Sombre ambrosial sighs,
Beckon midnight fireflies.
Frenzy sweet aromatic night,
She mourns unrequited sunlight.
Harvest, not this fallen Rose,
Fickle tis she, no one appose.Β
Keen thorns deeply lance,
If one plucked by chance.
Pleas to heaven neglected,
Mercilessly rejected
Legend has it; fallen from grace,
Renowned poetic beauteous face.
Vanity ruination, deadliest sin,
Exquisiteness only deep as sable skin.
Decaying as death claimed fall,
Essence imbued stone garden wall.
Beauty lugubriously grows,
Reinstated Onyx Rose.
Envious of iridescent stars above,
Bereave of heaven's love.
Thrivent in darkness sublime,
Fairytale wove once upon a time.

PS. I once wrote a poem called On X Rows, but it was about a gaggle of hens who went to a Sade concert, and were despondent about their seats(in the X row), and complained to the manager, but ended up being served in a casserole at the After Party. Sad story. But I like yours better. M.Β
