Poem -

Our Father Hurts Our Mother

My Father’s cruel to my Mother:
It’s always been this way
It hurts me the pain that he causes.
They’re both getting on now…

He seems to blame our ancestors
For his bitterness:
I try to help Mother
But he injures her and says it’s
Our fault:

Myself, my brothers and sisters.
Every day we ask Him for help
Right now he’s refusing to let
Her have water and she’s dying.

Ok, so He lets me give her water
But He’s the main provider.
He gets violent sometimes
And hurts his children

I can live with that
But it’s poor Mother that suffers
His wrath.
She tries to keep healthy
And often she can.
It’s not in her Nature to retaliate.

He’s temperamental:
Seems to want His own way
I love my Mother
What am I supposed to do

When he hurts her pets
Whom she tries to nurture?
Starves her plants:
Her beautiful plants.

My brothers and sisters and I
We do our best to help her
But He does what He wants
And says it’s our fault.

The ongoing battle between God the Father and Mother Nature.
