Our last words

Our last words

He is just a blot of ink,
On a page I will scrunch and tear and burn,
In my mind he’s just a lesson,
That took me too long to learn.
 .
These are our last words,
After this he’s nothing but a name,
It was once tattooed to my hands,
But it’ll wash away with the rain.
 .
He was always a wish,
That I made on a shooting star,
Burning too bright for too long,
I should’ve watched from afar.
 .
The embodiment of the coals,
That burnt as embers in my palms,
And as it goes out, instantly
What once raged calms
 .
The night settles in silence,
Living life without the sun,
But as the dawn breaks again,
He is gone, he is done.
