Romeo
Royalty, he said to me,
He spoke his name like it was a curse,
To shed the burden and lose the chains,
That weighed him down from birth.
/
Gold chains, champagne,
Blue eyes stained red with love,
As he stood beneath my balcony,
My tears rained down from above.
/
He raged red, half dead,
As waves collapsed down my cheeks,
Each day he burns, growing brighter,
And it crackles his voice as he speaks.
/
He reigns, burning veins,
He wears death as his sweetest perfume,
And as the water to his fire,
As we kiss; consume.
/
Gold throne, made of stone,
No tears can grace this regal show,
He is only himself in shades of blue,
So, where for art thou Romeo?
/
All’s lost, Star-crossed,
I love with all we have lost and bled,
In which he shall rise and I shall stay,
And it is that fate should wish me dead.
/
Golden glow, my Romeo,
In his heart his blood runs gold,
And a curse runs through the both of us,
Alike in dignity, as is our household.
/
His forever, mortal tether,
The cold wind of death this way sends,
A whispering warning as I hold onto him,
These violent delights have violent ends.

For me, I can have prosperity whether I have wealth or not.....but If given the choice, I would choose the curse of royalty over poverty. Nice write. JCG
