Our Little Dudes Last Day At Starbucks
Our precious Angel Cody, one year ago today;
Was your last trip down to Starbucks, before you sailed away!
You did not eat much kibble, as you rested in the shade;
Laying on your comfy beach towel, your life beginning fade!

We thought you just were tired, and needed lots of rest;
That after sleeping several hours, you’d be right back at your best!
Your buddies came and kissed you, you lifted your lovely head;
And whispered to them softly, “I’ll not be back” you said!
.
Of course, we did not hear you, but your friends all understood;
“The Little Dude”, named Cody, would not be coming back to the hood!
On Saturday, three days later, you joined your dear Nico;
Our two Soulmates were both in Heaven, as our endless teardrops flowed!

We lost our Dukey on June 25th 2018 of a sudden Heart Attack. I am still in mourning. I really Loved Duke. He was such a precious 185 lbs baby boy. My older son who is in the Navy, still does not know. He had asked me before that if he was away and something happened to Duke, to refrain from telling him until he came home to deal with this. It is painful. We have since adopted a new German Shepard named MAX. We love him but my heart is still hurting

Your words have brought tears to my eyes. I went back to your poetry site, and just read the gut-wrenching poem, "Living Without You". As you say, these beautiful creatures are far more than just pets, they are the mates of our hearts and Souls. Just as yours did, a piece of my Soul departed three and a half years ago, with the loss of my Beloved Nico, and tomorrow, exactly one year ago, with the passing of our baby Cody, who now is back with his cherished brother Nico.
Together, we cry the "Tears of Eternity" (the title of a book of poetry I am working on about the loss of my two dear Soulmates).
