Our Nashville Nemesis

It’s Monday morning around 5:30, we drove the whole night through;
We left Nashville our time midnight, with a six-day trip to rue!
We had such great expectations, for selling lots of art;
But the crowds were not real savvy, with not much money would they part!
.
There were several that liked our paintings, but the prices were way too high;
They would have had to be marked twenty dollars, for them to really fly!
We set the booth up Thursday morning, it was beautiful to see;
The show opened on Friday, we were excited as could be!
.
Before it even started, we sold two pieces to a dealer in our room;
We thought we were off and running, our merchandise would zoom!
But all day we sat there and sold nothing, Saturday was just the same;
Flea market buyers so rampant, no art collectors came!
.
Finally, Sunday before closing, we had two retail sales;
But that brought us to only four hundred dollars, we knew the show had failed!
We traveled and worked for six days, ending up three hundred in the hole;
Nashville turned out to be our nemesis, sales so far beneath our goal!

Fine art, high hopes, but low sales
Sometimes shit happens
