Packing Without A Wallop

Only thirteen very short months ago, we packed up our entire house;
Two movers put our belongings on a truck, our excitement all aroused!
We drove it over nine hundred miles, to start our brand-new life;
Free from financial worries, freed from all our strife!
.
We settled in our lovely new place, expensive and very chic;
For Linda had an Accounting job, making a grand or more a week!
The best thing was she worked from home, her office on the second floor;
Her commute each day was only, forty-five feet, no more!
.
But in May we got blindsided, she no longer had a job;
Her evil greedy employer, fifty thousand, from her did rob!
Our bank accounts quickly emptied, expending more than we could earn;
For this lease we had to honor, as our coffers quickly burned!
.
So again, we have to get packing, saving seven thousand plus a year;
But each box brings total drudgery, for our future’s filled with fear!
Last year we packed with wallop, but now, it’s a tedious chore;
Breaking down own lovely household, for we can’t afford it any more!
.
.
Moving day is near
Our backs and hearts both ache
Dashed dreams again
