Poem -

Pain

Pain

I heard the words, I saw you hurt.
I watched you suffer.

Yet in vain, I wouldn't release my vice-grip.

Sitting by day and night I watched the cancer take over.

The pain in your eyes tearing me apart.

I stayed by you and held your hand.

Whispered words in your ear.

Begged you not to go to the promised land.

I told you my fears.

We shed some tears.

You have my heart.

I wasn't ready for us to part.

Amazing Grace was your song,

that couldn't have been better for someone so strong.

I just had to let you know that I love you,

and please don't go.

Looking up at a picture of him you went into the light.

Although I cannot see your face,

nothing can ever take your place.

You were always there.

Had way too much pain for one person to bare.

You are the best.

Now you rest.

In our hearts you'll stay.

We'll be together another day.
