Paint The Sky

It was a dark October evening,
A Cloudy bleak black sky,
My daughter looked out of the window,
And gave a sweet little sigh,
"What is the matter my willow",
I said as she sat on my knee,
"Well we are going out tomorrow",
"So you need to do something for me",
"When we both go to sleep this evening",
"We both need to wish on a star",
"Then we can meet in our dreams you see",
"In a magical land not to far",
So that night I sat at the end of her bed,
Singing songs and stroking her hair,
I must of dropped off, but when I awoke,
I realised that we were both there,
She was dressed in white, her ponytail,
Just blowing softly in the breeze,
I said "Ok sweetie, whats the plan?"
As I picked her up with ease,
"I have the paints and all the brushes",
"And here is the reason why",
"To ensure when we wake it's amazing",
"We are both going to paint the sky",
So there we were laughing and smiling,
Painting the sky a most perfect blue,
And fluffy clouds, so many shapes,
And a kite that we stuck on with glue,
A beautiful sea, and golden sand,
Then we splashed on some paint for the flowers,
We skipped and painted everything,
For what seemed to be hours and hours,
"Good morning Daddy" my eyes flicked open,
"I think we painted a wonderful sea",
I thought "No way", it cannot be true,
But I swear she just winked at me,
Then she sat and threw back the curtain,
And it was then our beautiful day had begun,
A beautiful sky, some clouds, a kite,
And a smile even brighter than the sun.
