Pentagrams and Fifty Mission Cap (Tribute to ‘the tragically hip’)

I went out with this ‘chick’ who I wanted to shag

 She loved smoking weed and offered me a drag

I took it in hand and inhaled without any hesitation

 Then I asked her as a joke how she felt about Satan

She smiled sweetly and nodded, ‘he’s my inspiration.’

Then we fell in love and the world seemed our oyster

 We lived by the lake and drew pentagrams together

At night we sang calypso songs for the good harvest

And chanted incantations in the smoky morning mist

Worshipping the devil and writing New Age rap music

Became our obsession our life and our ritualistic habit

 Until we heard OUR song on the radio for the first time

We looked at each other and listened to every line

‘The tragically hip’ sang as we woke from our daily nap

Told the story of Bill Burilko in the song ‘Fifty Mission Cap’

 ...the last goal he ever scored won the Leafs the cup

They never won another...until he was discovered...
