THE PERFECT LIFE

She ticks the boxes, 'portrays the 'Perfect Life'
Inspirational loving mother, cherished wife
Responsible job, carried out with precision
Committees joined after considered decision.

Family and friends, now all carefully chosen
if they fit the pattern she has now woven
100% she gives all these things
To this perfect rule book, she now steadily clings.

But look a little closer, and you might see
A glimpse of the girl, she used to be.
Things are maybe, not as perfect as the should
Her tower is not ivory, just sticks of wood.

So where's the wonder woman I used to know
Who promised together bold, not old we would grow?
This gray shadow that I met with today
Does not resemble my pal in any way

My arrogance in believing our bond was unique
That comfort in each other we would always seek
Showed life will  change us, then move on,
But I miss my soul mate, now I know she is gone.
