A Life

A Life

~~A Life

How strange and odd it is to be:
To have a personality embody me
To live a life I wouldn’t quite choose
If only I had the character to do
What others do without a thought
Friends and family who are not caught
In obsessions and preoccupations
(some are nice, some irritations).
I live a life of relative solitude,
Perhaps an expression of my attitude.
And sometimes it feels rather sad,
Though really it’s not altogether bad.
I look at friends with kids and spouses
A career, a car, a mortgage for their houses.
But whenever I feel affectionate
I’m tooΒ unsure to act and just reflect on it.
It would be nice to make someone happy one day
And someday I might find some way.
Relationships have always eluded me.
I think that I am quite naΓ―ve.
I will sometimes ruminate in fear;
Sometimes a kind of happiness year by year
and will wander the streets and remember dates
Till the day I reach the Pearly Gates.
