My Mothers Closet

My baby picture wrapped in a pink blanket with my name around my wrist
A school photo in first grade I smile without a front tooth
My soccer team, our trophey, my coach with a big smile
Dressed in a bikini standing next to my green hornet, my first carĀ
Dressed as Sister Margarita, in the musical The Sound of Music, singing on stage
Graduation day, my gold robe and cap with all my class holding our diplomas
Birthday cakes and candles blown out, now I go off to college
Photos in an album, memories of growing up
Fill a plastic tub in my mothers closet
Strings of fish, camping trips, going to the zoo
Vacations on the lake, picnics in the park, watching baseball games
Wedding pictures, eating frosting from the cake on a special day
My parents anniversary, their train trip to Las Vagas
The grandchildren opening Christmas presents, stringing popcorn around the tree
Full of laughter, full of aging, full of life, full of memory
My mothers closet, filled with the past,Ā a treasure to remember, a true keepsake
I shall always hold dear to my heart held fast, as I clean out my mothers closet
For she is now an angel in heaven with my dad
Each photo I now place into an album with a sigh, happy thoughts, some are sad
Thank you mama for cherishing these moments as I do today

I have to look forward to making eternal memories with all my family, even those I haven't met yet, because almost everything here of the few family members I had is fading away, like my mind! great write of things to cherish!........................Jim
