Poem -

Piece by Piece

My heart is beating,

                  Against my chest.

I want to walk away but I keep going,
                  Head on.

My spirit is braking,
                  My heart is aching.

But I keep fighting,
I swear to never give up.

Now I am begging and pleading,
                  To breathe.

Hope is lies just out of reach,
                  Strength long forgotten.

Curled in a ball,
                  Hiding deep within darkness.

Beating heart,
                  Expanding lungs.

I have been broken,
                  Into pieces.

       BUT!

I have gotten stronger every time,
Every time I put myself back together.

With every piece I pick back up,
I figure our a little more about myself.

I get to find my strengths,
                  And learn my weaknesses.

When we do not know our weaknesses,
                  We cannot get stronger.

In order to figure out,
                  who we are.

We must look at ourselves,
                  Piece by piece.
