Pieces
Did you take my pieces with you?
There are pieces of you left in my heart
parts that are still sharp to the touch
pieces of you I haven’t unpacked
and talked about there are stories I haven’t told
and words I haven’t spoken because there are pieces of me I left with you
that I’m not sure you’ve kept pieces I loved
but could live without
if I had you
and you’re gone
and I don’t know where my pieces are
all I know is
I can’t watch my favorite movies
and you ruined some stories for me
we used to watch Star Wars on my old pink computer
I used to be able to touch you just another place I used to know
in the park it was dark
I loved the snow out
when you picked me up
and took me to your car
I think that’s when I knew I was losing you
and that you had pieces of my heart I see the empty spaces when I look in the mirror and I can’t help but wonder
did I take pieces of you?
Did I leave my heart on your shoulder?
Maybe I did and that’s why you called
or maybe you called because you saw me putting myself back togetherÂ

Oh I love this, Vannah! I like the way you wonder if he has pieces of you left in his heart. I like the way you keep the poem moving forwards in a conversational tone and then at the end there it has a little sting in its tail. Well written 👋👋👋👋 x
Thank you! I really appreciate the feed back❤️
Lovely lines Vannah.Â
Love was when you loved, and will stay where they were. A good write.
