Pity

Pity
Yes pity the sorrowful soul
For he knows no richness of life
Here he stands so lonely
Deserted by his own self
What truly happened?
Was it inevitable or
circumstantial?
Was it him or them? This or that
Does it matter now
Yes pity that sorrowful soul
For meaning was of importance
Reality was greater than his dreams,
But not now
O my God he is what he wished not to be
For he has seen reflections
Of souls he thought he
Worked so hard not to be
Perhaps it has been in vain.
Destiny may have been mapped
Out well before this soul knew of life
O the pain, no, disappointment
To lose once again
Boring and tiring are the days.
Habits carry him through the passing hours
Even the tears seem to be flowing less
Pity the sorrowful soul for the energy to try and
Change may have been
Used up trying to make a sorrowful soul
Direction, goals, dreams, hopes
Are merely words written
On paper now
