Poetic Interpretation

Sometimes I’ll write a poem, with something specific upon my mind;
But when someone reads it over, another theme they soon will find!
Then they’ll write a lauding comment, expressing what my words to them have said;
Then so instantly it dawns on me, that interpretation is in one’s head!
.
We look at life in different ways, guided by our hearts and souls;
Our comprehension of words we read, in different takes do we extol!
So to all my poetic soulmates, your synopsis I’ll e’er hold dear;
For you’ve looked deep into my very core, and your thoughts I love to hear!
.
You stroke my hungry ego, when you find new parts of me;
An underlying meaning, that this writer could not see!
So please keep cards and letters coming, for they show me that you care;
And keep finding those little nuances, I did not realize that were there!
.
.
Poems are boundless
Their meanings are subjective
Their readers priceless

Hi Larry, this speaks directly to me ,and I think, every poet..We write primarily what we feel we can express most lucidly about how WE feel...That doesn't mean we have experienced everything we write about but that we can empathise with situations and hope to pass some feeling of that situation onto the reader. the definition of 'Poetry' is 'literary work in which the expression of feelings and ideas is given intensity by the use of distinctive style and rhythm; poems collectively or as a genre of literature'.
You have done this with your poem and I love it! well done dear friend!!

My Dear Lodigiana,
You honor me with these words of beauty. As we all create the poetry of our hearts and souls, we hope it will affect our readers in the way that we meant it too. Yet, sometimes, they read deeper into it than even we did, as we the writers, learn about ourselves through their interpretation. This is the beauty of our craft.
Hugs, Peace and Love,

Larry, my dear friend...
we write for ourselves
as the pen glides the page wants
to be read kindly
Truth be told, you're no slouch in the 'Interpretation Department' yourself! More times than I can count, you have left wonderful comments of poetic beauty and penetrating insight on my work.
A case in point: last Christmas Day, I wrote and posted a story called The Lost Balloon...and the sheer beauty and innate comprehension of your comment knocked me sideways!! Now...before you begin to protest (as is your wont)...don't take my word for it; a few weeks ago I showed your comment to Lorna and it took her breath away!!
So...in respect of that (and so much else)...I tip my hat to you, good sir.
your friend & fan,
J ;)
My Dear Friend Jason,
As is my "wont", I will not take full credit for my comments which have a "penetrating insight" into your work, for they are the result of me being "incited" by great poets and minds such as yourself and Lorna, whose masterpieces take me to distant stars, where I can lose myself in their beauty, my pen being guided by their great power.

A poet writes words
Some show us their souls portals
Bared to their core

Hi Larry, this really struck a chord, as I see aspects of myself in the words of others.

My Dear Lorna,
I read words you write
They take me secret places
That only I know
All my love,

My Dear Poemahontas,
Wow. You honor me beyond belief. I am a very humble man, and to receive such a lauding comment, takes my breath away. I am actually at a loss for words now, something which rarely happens. I can only say, thank you from the bottom of my heart, and the top of my soul. I am going right to your site to read and respond to some of your works.
Hugs, Peace and Love,
Larry xxx
