The Poppy

The Poppy

I’m just a simple flower

Petals small and red

A symbol used by thousands

To remember many dead

Worn in pride by many

To celebrate the brave

Standing proud and tall

At the job the people gave

On the eleventh day

Of the Eleventh month

In cities everywhere

This simple little flower

Will show how much you care

For soldiers young and old

Injured in a fight

So people everywhere

Can keep their human rights

So buy me when you see me

Wear me for a day

To remember all the people

In war who passed away

I’m just a simple flower

Petals small and red

To be worn in pride by all

To remember all our dead
