PREJUDICE

Do you see me, judge me, label me without knowing.
Do you put me into a categorised box already overflowing.
Am I the wrong colour, sexuality, nationality, or religion.
Do I not conform to your small, blinkered vision.

Do you know my story, do you understand my plight.
My terrible childhood out of mind out of sight.
No love and no laughter only violence and fear.
To often eyes blurred by the sting of a tear

If you really know me, if you could walk in my shoes.
Would you still hate for no reason, would you curse and abuse.

My colour, religion, or differences should not carry a cost
If you can't see past this, then all hope is lost

The love in my heart and the goodness in my soul are what you should see.
Hear my story, see my world and set yourself free.
Cut the weight of your prejudice before they will start
To darken your soul your mind and your heart.
