Prison of the Heart

Where angels fear to tread

Prison of the Heart

Where Angels fear to tread
Is where you left me
In a barren no fly zone
With a broken heart
Only you can rescue me
Only your love saves me
From this abyss of night
From this silent nothingness
I can only hear your voice
Only perceive your face
Your features are my life raft
Your words are my holy text
If you forsake me
Abandon me now
I shall drift forever
In this no fly zone
Where all the angels fear to tread
Where even the most powerful
Cannot enter
Because it is a prison formed
In my own heart
My own making

Here I am so desolate
With you being so depraved
In this camp of suffering
Where the void holds tomorrow
I have wandered here a stranger
To find myself marooned
Please come for me
At least throw me a lifeline
To leave this prison of the heart
