Protector

I have finally done it,
broken my word,
thrown my life upon the sword,
taking that final step,
off the edge,
into the darkness,
I will not share what I have broken,
I will not foce you back to my world,
I will not drag you off the edge with me,
I will not let you slip into this darkness,
I can not take you with me.
I have done something,
to tear you apart,
I tried to fight,
to keep my word,
to battle at your side,
but I could no longer,
I have spent my energy,
with much regret,
I admit I am beaten,
I am so broken,
I can no longer fight,
but I won't take you with me.
I will not tell you,
I will never let you know,
you cannot adress my pain,
this is not the battle ground,
you are no warrior,
I fight the battle,
as you pretend to be my shield,
strong,
or weak,
I don't need a shield in this life,
I am the protector,
let me do what's right,
and protect you,
from me.
