Prudence
Babe of mine
listen to mom
I’ve been carrying you
tirelessly for eight months
We are nearing separation
You started off so small
when I found out I was now
the bearer of two hearts
that beat as one
words couldn’t quite
express my love,
my fears, my excitement
I cradled my tummy
and began preparing a world
that will ready for you
when you arrived
I shielded you from the noise
and I bared the back pain
I kept my food down
and by now both of us know that was a task
Soon enough you will be out
to a world vast and wondrous
I may miss the times I didn’t have to worry about you
falling, bruising your knees
eating your toys
and feeling heartache
Remember while you explore
home is where family is
Never fear that you don’t have a place
to call your home
I will forever be here for you

This is a beautiful poem, Sarah. Very eloquently put and is clear where and how you utilised the inspiration you found from another source into your own talented piece. I have missed reading your work!
