Psychiatric Ward

Psychiatric Ward

The people in the Psychiatric Ward are
Sheltered from the World outside:
The world where people work to fulfil
Nature’s overriding desire
And the children they produce
Learn the ways of life
And the youth move from booze to babies
Each generation moves on.

These people on the ward are sheltered with their various
Mental traumas. A trauma that means that- for now-
The World is too much for them to cope with-
So they exist- a little uncertainly- inside, sheltered
Sorting through their issues:
Head in hands one chap verbally refights
An old argument he once had with someone,
The thing goes round and round.

Some have confused thoughts and are
Uncertain of things and people
Uncertain of who they are-
Distracted, they sit in wonderment.
It is as if their core personality has
Blown apart- unfolded from a neat pile
Into steps running downwards, this way and that
And it all seems so clear.

It seems so clear
Seemingly figuring out the World
For what it is and what it means
Ideas and scribbling. Notes. More notes.
Making connections, rightly or wrongly
Reading deeply into things. Confusions
Delusions first then understandings
The contact with reality rebuilds
And returns.

A well thought out piece, great observation to this hidden world most of us do not wish to see and certainly never wish to end up in.
