Pyramid

Pyramid

Every make and model – fails through opinionated thought.
The story tellers fear the Newland poet – in which red handed they are caught.

Sirens bleed the innocent, for calls of such a halt.
What patience brings,
in complex strings.
What’s learnt cannot be taught.

Through my sandstone archways, and my pitfalls.

In the polished tombs, where they lay.
My dreams still haunt
the weary robber.
A price he’s willing to pay.

For what’s more priceless than learning from one’s mistakes.
One’s misplaced steps – trigger stones that set underfoot.
Take a step back for once – to acknowledge what was once misunderstood.
And face these feelings one by one.

Easier said than done.
Where’s your future? Where’s your fun?
If you stop your dead. If you look back, you regret.
If your thoughts go unsaid, they’ll never leave your head.

So, for now.
In through my sandstone archways, and my pitfalls.
In the polished tombs, where they lay.
My dreams still can't haunt me.
So that’s just where they’ll stay.

Hi Max, firstly sorry I am hardly here these days. I popped on just now and spotted your post. What a powerful piece to read on a day like today. I think many of us can relate to this. Reality is changing for so many of us. We are discovering as a whole, humanity has a lot to learn from so many mistakes. All is not what it seems I feel. I really enjoyed:

“For what’s more priceless than learning from one’s mistakes.
One’s misplaced steps – trigger stones that set underfoot.
Take a step back for once – to acknowledge what was once misunderstood.
And face these feelings one by one”

It’s hard sometimes to look back and face those errors. But when we do, the knowledge obtained can be life changing. The end of this piece leaves the reader numb. It has such a somber tone to its weight. There is an air of utter sadness in your words. A handing in the towel so to speak.

I also want to mention how well this reads. There is rhythm to your stanzas. You have played with the sounds of words. Which lifts the piece, enriching its content to please the reader by enhancing the tone in its meaning.

Brilliant

I hope you are well

Hi Gwen! Your comment is wholeheartedly welcomed. And as always hits home. I'm glad to read your kind words and glad as always you enjoyed my take on poetry. As a matter of fact I'm overjoyed you took the time to stop by. Things definitely change. Especially for the one's that sit too comfortably! Seems like I took some things for granted, and made some mistakes, some unforgivable in the eyes of the world... quite literally. I'm not happy with any of that. But in the bitterness of truths we all make mistakes. I've just gotta accept that and learn. I can't complain overwhelmingly however, others have it a lot worse than me.

God youve got me ranting late at night... want i really wanted to say is Thank you and I hope things are going well for you. Please stay on the airways when you can and reach out if you want / need! Again thanks Gwen. Thank you for the read.

It’s great to see you posting on here Max. I do hope you continue. Sorry things have been so hard. Always hear to lend an ear should you need one. These times have been so trying for so many. I hope there is signs of light in the path you work. That hope for better days is a mere whisper away from you. Let 2023 lift your spirit and bring you happier times ahead. Life can bring some harsh lessons our way. It’s how we rise from those moments that matters most. Got my fingers crossed for you
