RAVENS

RAVENS

The sky dark with feathered wing, but no bird in the sky does singĀ
They just ring out an awful caw, as the black mass dives, towards the floorĀ

Down , down they dive, swooping on unaware, passer byesĀ
People run, scared for their lives, some even try and hideĀ
From the deadly feathered mass, from the northern skies

Their attack is without mercy, relentless, unearthlyĀ
people duck down low, frozen on the spot, with no place left to goĀ

They attack in formation, in a coordinated attack Ā  Ā
Ā Swooping down, knocking off peoples hatsĀ
They are like a plague of rabid batsĀ

Hands are placed in front of their face, as relentlessly they are chasedĀ
all over the place, trying to protect their face, but their defence is in wasted hasteĀ

Black winged bird from the sky, flutters wings, amidst loud cries
lands on their heads, Ā uses large strong beak to pummel headsĀ
blood, and puss start to stream out, ā€œa smorgasbordā€ Ā the others shoutĀ

The others hear the deathly caw, saying ā€œfeed now, one and allĀ
And one by one they join in, this smorgasbord they all dig inĀ

They use their beaks to break through the skin, ripping out all that dwells withinĀ
Flesh, and sinewy veins, ripped from inside their brains
intestines pulled from their bowls, the smell that leaves them is quite foul

Eyes are pulled amidst screams and shouts , pulled yet not all the way outĀ
dangling Ā on membraned thread, dangling , swing from side of headĀ
their occupant now lies down dead,
brain matter runs from the open cavityĀ
life now ended, just depravityĀ

They attack, and attack, they hold nothing back,
the town is covered in a mass of feathered black,Ā

Their deathly call fills the air, wide eyes stare from frosted glassĀ
The defence is about to come a thing of the pastĀ

People no longer run around, no more screams , can be foundĀ
bodies dead lie on the groundĀ
No more food to be found, they look to the reflective glass, open wings wideĀ
And make their first deadly passĀ

They attack in droves, spider cracks start to form, splintering down the glassĀ
As they continue their assault on their new enemy , this pane of glass
Ā How much longer will this onslaught last?Ā

Crash, crash again they charge the fragile window paneĀ
The eyes locked behind the glass, Ā scared now as the black mass makes another pass

Suddenly the glass gives way, spider cracks release their chatterĀ
the glass under constant force does shatter

People run around like headless chickensĀ
As the black mass takes over their kitchensĀ

Bodies pile upon the floorĀ
Trampled being squeezed through narrow doorĀ
Blood now covets the wooden floorĀ

The smell of blood now fills the airĀ
Sends the ravens into a frenzy, food for thoughtĀ
Theirs more than plentyĀ

They use their mass to pin them down, Seconds later no one makes a soundĀ
The black mass just swirls round and roundĀ
Like a black tornado, one goal in mind
Human extinction Ā Ā

The town no more, bodies laid out on their backs
Pecked to death, bloody hands and feetĀ
Holes punched into dainty cheeksĀ
Eyes removed, empty socketsĀ
Now the head sports a pair of bloody pocketsĀ

Suddenly the sky goes black, no food, they no longer need to attackĀ
Open wings which sprout from their backĀ

They Spread wings wide, all and sundry take to the skyĀ
Onto the next village they will go, to bring death and destructionĀ
From the air to the ground below.Ā
Ā

Jeff, spectacular, yes I always think of Poe or Hitchcock whenever I see aĀ poem on ravens, but an army ofĀ ravens drivenĀ with blood lust andĀ purposefulĀ in their work of humanĀ extinction, now that I've not seen before, my friend, awesome....the part where they broke the glass and feasted on eyeballs, that part I never saw coming; no pun intended, diabolical holiday fun, The satanic Birds on steroids is very tasty my friend...Ā tribute
