The Rays That Save

There is no more room
On our backs for another scar.
Looking back at these tracks,
It's evident we've come very far,
But apparently not far enough.
Dark days still trail closely behind.
We keep trying to lie to ourselves,
That we're so tough.
In my heart,
No courage shall you find.
There's no lie I haven't told,
No lullaby,left unsung,
To ease my troubled mind.
There's no pillar of hope
To hold on to.
The breath my lungs hold is a lie.
I'm lost in the illusion of freedom,
Because no matter how hard I try,
My eyes just can't find the sky.
I'm enclosed in this darkness,
In a blanket woven out of the different wools
Of all my sins.
It brings me no warmth.
It's just a bad reminder of where I've been,
But although I'm pinned down
By my crown.
Lost in despair,
A slave to pain.
I hear a voice,ringing out.
Bouncing on a ray of light.
A ray from the firmament above.
The ray that saves,
And now I know that these haunted days,
Are not here to stay,
Because the sun's song says
"The morning will come,
We'll wake up,upright,
And these scarred times,
Will all be out of sight"
And we'll bask in this new found light,
In this brand new freedom.
Morning will carry out her task,
And bring us all,
That much needed peace.
And all these cursed memories
She shall smite!
Morning will give us back our lives.
