Reflections

Fingers press against the glass
I stare at my reflection staring back,
Pinky to pinky, thumb to thumb
I ponder the man that I've become.
With thinning hair and weathered skin
A stubble growth upon my chin,
Ears that sprout with a horses mane
My brow all furrowed like the farmer's lane.
I catch a glimpse of my father there
Standing with a long hard stare',
It's just life son he says to me
It's the way life has to be.
We can't stay young forever
What would be the point in that,
We'd miss life's great journey
and all that she brings.
And I realize that my eyes still sparkle
With a thirst for life and all its knowledge,
And I know that he's still in there
That young man I used to be.

Tony, thank you for your kind and if I may say flattering words. I have just started writing poetry so feel a bit out of my depth, so your kind words are a great encouragement. If you can recommend any good learning resources it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again.
Phil.
