Reflections of my world

heavy streaks of water
makes my view a muddle
for my upside down world
is nestled in a puddle
rippling in the breeze
disappearing in an instant
by the marching passers-by
destroying all so distant
all that I can see, is
reflections all around
distorted and yet clear
my world on the ground.

Hi Georgina,
Thank you for your kind words of encouragement, I really enjoy writing poems. I'm so glad you liked this one. Ā I took up writing when my husband died as a way of expressing my feelings and I am still going strong !
Congratulations for being the Ambassador of the Month.

Hi Lis,
I`m so sorry that you have lost your husband sweetie, and please know that you are in my prayers. We both seem to have a lot in common. I too took up writing poetry after the death of my eldest son Andrew to bowel cancer, he died in 2009 aged 31. Although I didn`t actually start writing till 2013, that was when I slowly started to come out of the darkness of deep grief with the love, help and support of my husband and my 5 other children. My youngest son Christopher bought me a laptop for mothers day of that year and said he was determined to drag me kicking and screaming if he had to!! into the technology age as I always run a mile when new gadgets come out because I don`t trust myself not to break them, I don`t even have a cell phone!! I didn`t even know that I could write till after he taught me how to use the laptop and he was the one who found this site for me back then because he knows that I enjoy reading poetry.
I agree with you wholeheartedly sweetie about writing, it keeps me going too. It helps with getting all those pent up dark feelings out and turned into something positive doesn`t it? I, like you, find writing poetry cathartic and restful for the soul. The first poem that I wrote on my new laptop is called STILL, I wrote it for the 4th anniversary of Andrews death and Geoff, my husband, read it out in church that evening for the congregation, that poem was my first attempt at a non rhyming poem too!!. The second one I wrote is called YESTERDAY they are both about Andrew and I have written many more for him since. I now try to write more lighthearted ones and that`s the reason I chose humour for the second topic for this months topics along with the after life for the first. I hope you are enjoying the posts that have been put on and I look forward to reading more of your work too.
Thank you for the good wishes on the A.O.M I appreciate them very much.
God bless
G xx
