Relationships

Relationships

I called you after midnight
Just to hear your voice
You made me feel like a childish fool
Because I'd made the wrong choice

Have you never made mistakes
Made a decision ad hoc
Been a little impetuous
Put your head upon the block

Perfection doesn't know your name
You're a million miles away
Don't talk down your nose at me
Refrain from arrogant wordplay

I wanted to say "I love you"
That's the reason for this call
Now I wish I'd never bothered
Or had such thoughts at all

So that's my sleep ruined
I shall ruminate all night
I really should have known better
About your ability to pick a fight

Why is it all so bloody hard
To find my counterpart
To meet a soul companion
Who understands my heart

I don't believe I will ever know
The pain a mental stigma
Women will remain a mystery
A philosophical enigma.
