Remnants

~~The door snapped quietly
in the early morning light.
You meant what you said
You are leaving me again.

I reach for your pillow
Breathing deeply into
the inner fabric
that contains you.
Only you.

I have to be careful
This time you are gone
I know this now.
I must not breathe you
into my lungs too quickly.

The nights ahead will be dark
I shall reach for the comfort
You always gave me.
Your  softness remaining
Will be in this pillow
and not in your breast.
Fading like old memories.
My only remnants of you.
