Resilience

I am like this because I have to be not because I want to 
I have to be strong where others would be weak because it’s hidden 

I am like this because I know that it’s not as bad as it could be 
I have to be this strong because I know other have it worse 

I am like this because if I show my cracks people won’t take me seriously 
I have to be this strong so that people don’t take the piss 

I am like this because I know people won’t believe the reasons I need help 
I have to be this strong because it’s odd to some people why I sometimes can’t 

I am like this because my difference is hidden, hidden by a lot of strength and learnt behaviours 
I have to be strong so that it doesn’t control my life
