Restless Heart

Restless Heart

Restless Heart

I can’t allow another minute to pass by
I’m down on my luck but willing to try

You took hold of my days and captured my nights
I was like a caged bird who couldn’t take flight

Wings on my heart and the sun in my face
Yes I’ll be gone forever without a trace

With the wind in my hair and the moon at my back
I’ve become so tired of walking your thorny path

You would have me in chains if you had your way
I long for my freedom and that’s why I won’t stay

You would simply take my freedom from me
Leaving me frozen in the cold winter’s breeze

With a heart so full of bittersweet memories
I will travel the endless road that will set me free

It is time to break free from your many cages
My wings haven’t felt freedom like this in ages

My freedom was once only like a distant dream
But here in reality it is closer than it seems

I can taste the freedom of the ocean on my tongue
All of the cobwebs of your lies are coming undone

You can’t keep me from the golden path I’ve laid
Because the bed of my dreams is already made

May have a broken heart but doing what means the most
And I refuse to be haunted by your controlling ghost

I will eventually find the key to unlock my captive heart
That should be easier the more miles we are apart

Neither blinding rain nor falling winter snow
Will stop this wild spirit that needs to grow

My sad song of love has come to an end
And my restless heart will surely mend
