River

River

Angry words unspoken,
Needlessly, a raw heart broken.
It’s so easy to say cutting things,
Not concerned the hurt it brings.
After everything said and done,
I’m always the sorry one.

Chorus:
It’s getting harder each time tears fall,
To forgive, forget all.
A river raging with riptide,
Ebbing, love inside.
Β
Tender touches is to make me forgive,
Joking how I’m just too sensitive.
You wonder why I pull away,
And take so serious things you say.
Well, it hurts deeper than physical pain,
Words burn holes into a brain.

Β Chorus:
It’s getting harder each time tears fall,
To forgive, forget all.
A river raging with riptide,
Ebbing, love inside.
Β
My tears like a river's rise,
Drowning love in my eyes.
It’s being washed away,
By all the hurtful things you say.
And when tears finally dry,
I say good-bye.
