River of sound (spoken word)

River of sound (spoken word)

What is it I have tried to do
all these years?

Trying to connect meaning with sound.

The phonetic meanings and shapes of words,
attempting to mix and dance.

All these years,
I have been skipping pebbles,
across a river of sound.

Rhythmic questions,
condemnations,
accusations.

Prayers of hope.

Relaxed now, with age,
I listen for the splash.
