Road Rage
Impatience, anger and shouting, rude hand gestures, rule of the day
Lane hopping, queuing and speeding, all the joys of the motorway
Signs flash and everything grinds to a halt, rubbernecks hope to see gore
The road repair stretch comes to an end; the traffic is queuing no more
Speeding commences as soon it can, bad habits are back on display
Slow drivers as bad as the others, inside lane is where they will stay
It is hard to believe that anger when driving can drive somebody to kill
King of the road is what they want to be; to them itās just a thrill
The beeping starts and no one dares to look at the bully in the car
Racing ahead aggressively shouting āā who do you think you areāā
Everyone wondering who itsā aimed at, avoiding the angry manās glare
Challenge him, he takes it for granted none of the drivers will dare
His anger so intense, his judgement flails and he swerves across the road
Road rage has become so common; it should be part of the green cross code
He could have being carrying a weapon, to vent out his anger and rage
Anyone could have been his victim but it's he who has taken the stage

Wow Miss Kynaston!!........I started reading some of your stuff yesterday............you have a gift for the narrative poem..........natural born storyteller.........not an easy thing to do............you took this subject matter and shined a poetic light on it...........well done.............by the way what's the "green cross code"?............much enjoyed my friend..............Love and Rockets!!...............T xo
~~Thanks Tony, glad you liked it, I get a bit carried away with my writing at times. The green cross code IĀ code of conduct relating to road safety; admittedly more to do with pedestrians but it is road related and it rhymed
Oh I see ~ you're in another country (lol!)............I can be a big dumbo sometimes...........just always curious to learn something new..........thanx for clearing that up for me!........smiles.........T xo

I always forget how far this site reaches but that is half the fun. The major part of the green cross code was to teach children to look left ,look right, look right again and they shouldĀ then be safe to cross the road, Not in your country as you drive on the other side of the road. My suggestion in the poem was maybe it would be a good idea to include 'anti road rage' as a road etiquette part of the code. Although that will never happen - Ha, ha

Debra great write, I can relate to this driving on the highway everyday for work. I have learned to dull down the road rage. You have described so many details of the rush hour commute and i don't think it matters where you live i think it's all the same
Thank you and yes I agree rush hour is the same no matter where you live
