Road to Unenlightenment

Road to Unenlightenment
Whilst idling neath a sycamore tree,
the thought quite grand did cosset me,
that sitting in a place alike,
the Buddha felt his lightening strike.
And as this hit a theory grew,
That seemed both strong and mighty true.
It came to me in terms of verse,
and much like Budd's but in reverse.
Cos Bud, he said - upon recall,
the cause of dread both big 'n' small,
the cause all our worldly reeling,
doth squarely sit upon our feeling.
But in my mind a reason grew,
for why this theory rings untrue.
And though I could just keep it in,
To tell it straight appears no sin.
Emotion see, I cannot feel
and so departs from every meal,
all sense of taste and pleasant gain,
the spectrum full from love to pain.
You may well think, "How could this be?",
"this happened not, to her, to me".
Well, Â forth it came whence feeling ill
The doctor bid me "take this pill".
He further went and did assure,
It's magic stuff and bound to cure.
Now some could say, "you  lucky guy"
Oh not to hurt! Oh not to cry!
For such a thing, I'd give my car
I'd sell my house, I'd move afar.
But hand on heart, it stopped my life
this lack of joy, this lack of strife.
It kept me couched upon the sofa
I fast evolved to sofa loafer.
I shovelled chips, I shovelled pies
My belly sharp began to rise.
My fellow man I did not know
But did I care? , I wished it so.
So before I leave, I ask of you
that if a doc, when feeling blue
he says he knows a special thing,
to make you purr, to make you sing.
Just stop a mo and think it through,
and ponder what's the false and true.
Consider what befell poor me.
Know magic cast is never free.

Hello Matthew...
Some people don't realize the downfall of medical magic...
It covers pain...
If you don't feel then how do you know if something's really wrong?
Some people have pain all the time...
They can't get the help they need...
It's a vicious cycle and not a game that should be played...
Doctors don't give when they should and they do when they shouldn't?Â
Almost a game of Rat Trap?
Great write!Â
Thank you for sharing...
Hugs...

What an exceptional poem. Strong verse, a stronger story of personal struggle. Fantastic.
