Roberta the Bruce

I read a poem.
it went on and on,
and on and on....
then some more..
How ever ..
it won..
It won the contest
I felt a protest
born,
maybe I need..
at some point,
to re read,
and digest
As I'm obviously
going wrong..

great poem
what poem are you taking about
I'd have to look it up..a competition, the poem was about having a stroke...I'm sure it's a sign of the times..they go for the different approach...he won a wad of money.
2019 Rattle Poetry prize
i will have go and look it upÂ
It's good, he reads it too..but when they're long I lose interest, I skip when I read too...cant help it.
I am Sooooo with you here Pauline, even on here I see great work ignored and...ummm...not so great work treated like ...ummm....well, great work!! ???
Marian, I guess it's what appeals to the reader....I can get things off my chest in a round about way on here..I love stories and lessons learned.. and clever wording....Im not that stirred at the moment...we've been idle..nothing happening ..I d like to write in other peoples styles but they may think I'm taking the p, and you would recognize the writer imitated...lol.....
Oh interesting. This can be true. What one person feels may differ to others and our comments are biased base on how we felt after reading. Also true that if its too long readers may lose interest. It has happened to me too.Â
Either way I love your little poem. ?
Sometimes I love long poems... If they can keep my interest I enjoy reading them no matter how long they are. Sometimes though, a poem does not keep my interest and I stop reading it... I do try to keep going but I usually fail. I had to look up the poem you were talking about. I did read it... I read it all but I have to say it was more to do with my morbid interest rather than the brilliance of the poem (yes I know it won and all that... but, well, really?) I read it because I felt sorry for the writer and hoped he would be okay. I read it to the end because it felt rude not to. I do not know anything about poetry... I know nothing... Not really. To me a good poem has to be tasty enough for my soul to devour and enjoy... but that is just me. And that is the ultimate beauty of poetry... It is diverse and varied.. Different people like different poems for even more different reasons. We, ordinary people, like a poem simply because we like it... We don't care about the technicalities we care about the flavour it delivers to our soul... And that, in my opinion, is the way it should be. Oh, how your poem has got me thinking, Pauline, so thank you for that and thank you for introducing me to the poem in Question x
That's a fab comment Being ne, trust me I didnt skip..theres some things about a poem that grabs me...it either does or does not....grab me...as you say, for the readers reason..I guess the ' stroke' poem emulates actually having a stroke....the reader is put in that position...we can through the words of others experience that position, but only if we ourselves recognize it...simply rhyming isn't enough for me....producing an image and a feeling is more important....Pratibha is right its solely on ' what' you perceive it to be...though generally its speaks for itself. I hate boring rhyming.. A B A B  ....but it has its uses..all good fun on cosmo....
