Roots of the future

You start out as a seed, planted and nourished by the rain.

The raindrops fall atop you, triggering a soothing sensation.

Then you part.

Roots start to spew out of you.

They set in a grasp at the soil.

The soil rich with nutrients.

A leaf sprouts from inside your stem, breaking apart the soil, into the daylight.

Now you wait...

You learn to be patient as you grow.

Finally, the time has come that you become the biggest you can.

You’ve never felt so alive as you dance with the wind.

YOu sway one way and the other, the breeze wrapping around you.

As you sway, a leaf breaks from its branch, flowing down until it reaches the ground.

Whats happening? you ask.

Then more fall, the breeze turning int harsh wind.

Your pulled all directions, until your left bare.

Nothing growing off of you any longer.

Your branched wilter, and your wood grows wrinkles.

The birds stop visiting…
