Ruby Tuesday

As the clock that eve struck midnight, and “Blue Monday” came to end;
I called it “Ruby Tuesday”, the last day with you we’d spend!
It was named for the anomaly, red tears that soaked my heart;
That found their way into my eyes, and all night did impart!
The clock then struck hour seven, the mornings’ light crept in;
But to me the room was ebon, from darkness deep within!
I cringed; I knew the time was coming, that I’d have to let you go;
To take your final “bye-bye”, as my heart cried “NO! NO! NO!”!
I carried you in your little “beddie”, a blanket wrapped in pink;
Out to the van you always loved, as my heart began to sink!
I stayed with you a while, and I cried a thousand tears;
I kissed your face and said goodbye, the sad time now was here!
Mommy had to drive you, for my body laid in heap;
She took you back to your veterinarian, so your ashes we could keep!
Now they sit atop your table, at the shrine we built for you;
We send prayers and love each morning, to our soulmate, in “Heavens’ Blue”!
