Safe And Sound--Home At Last

Safe And Sound--Home At Last

We survived the most harrowing three days, in either of our lives;
For the route we took on the interstate, was a terrifying drive!
Lucky for us in my profession, I’ve driven close to two million miles;
I consider myself one of the world’s best, but this trip really got me riled!

.
The hardest part was we rented a truck, a twenty six foot monster in size;
All our possessions were put on it, by two professional moving guys!
This was my first time driving one, it took me a while to adapt;
But what was happening on the interstate, made us both enrapt!

.
There were tens of thousands heading North, evacuating the killer storm;
For Irma was coming with fury unknown, far worse than a hurricane’s norm!
These amateurs drove like maniacs, cutting in and out of lanes;
We watched this crazy exodus, trying ourselves to both keep sane!

.
Fortunately we had reserved a room, just fifty miles from our house;
We were exhausted from last minute packing, but at two a.m. we roused!
But the road was still a parking lot, people drove all through the night;
The rest areas were all totally filled, a never before seen sight!

.
But I knew every exit, having driven this route many times;
I selected one I thought most would pass, and there would be no long gas line!
I was right and we filled the tank up, then drove to another spot;
Where the rest area wasn’t crowded, and we both relaxed a lot!

.
Then on to the crowded road to Atlanta, the jackrabbits still cutting in and out;
We finally arrived in Chattanooga, and screamed a victorious shout!
We took a nap and nice hot showers, then ate two delicious steaks;
We watched TV and retired early, and at one a.m. made our break!

.
The road was finally mostly empty, the morons were all asleep;
We arrived at eight in the morning, our hearts both took giant leaps!
So here we are both safe and sound now, we move into our new home today;
But we’ll never forget the insanity we saw, of zillions from Irma running away!

.
Love to you all,
Linda and Larry xxx

Dear Linda and Larry,
so glad you posted today, and really happy you arrived safely. Sounds like you've had a complete nightmare of a drive.

Out on the freeway
Driven to insanity
Home at last my friends

Our Dear Lorna,

We sure miss you and Jason.  Larry is in "Haiku Withdrawal".  Unfortunately, with him being computer illiterate, and me working five to eight hours a day on the Company books, there is just no time right now.  Larry says he is going to learn how to use the computer.  He wants to end with a Haiku.

Insanity road
Drivers madly possessed
We beat all the beasts

Hi Dear Lodigiana,

Thank you for your lovely words.  We actually have lots of family here, and Larry has many old friends.  As we are writing this our thirteen year old Granddaughter is sleeping upstairs, and we are going to a birthday party this afternoon for our twenty two year old Grandson.  As you can see, we have friends and family here, but we love our Cosmo family too.

All our love,
Linda and Larry xxx

Hello Larry and Linda...

Having to move the day people decided to evacuate early...

Moving is a job in itself never mind having to do it when there's a Hurricane coming up on your butt...

Glad you made it safe a and sound...

You definitely can put that in your Book of Adventures...

Great write!

Thank you for sharing...

Hugs, peace, and love

Our Dear Sweet Sparrowsong,

It certainly was one big adventure.  Having never driven a truck before, Larry was quite proud of his navigational skills.  Lucky for us, he knew every nook and cranny of the Interstate, so we were never in a gas line.  It was one of the happiest moments of our lives when we finally arrived here in Dayton, Ohio.  Thank you for your funny comments, which brought smiles to our faces.

All our love,
Linda and Larry xxx

My Dear Brother Tony,

You have no idea how much I miss being on Cosmo, surrounded by all my dear family.  Sadly, with me being computer illiterate and Linda working five to eight hours a day for the new business, there is just no time.  I swear, I'm going to learn how to use one of these new fangled contraptions.  Hope all is well with you. How's your music career going?

I miss you and love you Bro'

Dear Ben,

The best "happy ending" was when I finally got Linda to our new home.  Good to hear from you.

Our Dear Leah,

Sorry for the late reply, but somehow, we just saw this.  Sadly, with my new job taking up 5-8 hours a day, and Larry being computer illiterate, we can't be on Cosmo so much anymore.  Larry says he's going to have to learn how to use it, but for right now, we try to make some time on the weekends.  Thank you for your kind words.  We miss you.

All our love,
Linda and Larry xxx
