" Sanitary Landing "

In a state of environmental discontent
He cleans up the tin cans
Washed up on the shore of "Sanitary Landing"
The fictitious town
Brought to light by government scandal
And the need for war
Represented by hired guns at Newspapers
And gossip columns
Where sanitation workers like my friend
Are pissed on
Then thrown into the very dumpsters
They once cared for
And now find themselves fighting.....
Where's their Voice?
Their Village Voice, they were promised
As protection
From the governmental hand-me-downs
And rotten T.V. dinners
Which feed the souls of honest men
Forgotten
And left to die like the tin cans
Washed up
And left rusted on the shore
Of a fictitious town
Called
Sanitary Landing.......

Tone,
I am with Cherie, this does obliterate a nerve are two for me, but to me, only because this depicts, true to life scenarios, of many young service, men and women, sent valiantly out to war, to protect and fight ,(if need be) for their home land as soldiers, just to return home and be treated in the manner, in which you speak of, in your true to life poem,''Town Called Sanitary Landing." Loved the shed light, cast from this poem, on such a relevant situation, even if it was fictitious but as ThIrTeEn has conveyed, we in fact do need all, to thrive but it is sad, how the status quo, is left imprisoned within their own minds, from such debilitative deficiencies as depression, shell shock and(PTSD) only to be told, (upon their return to the home land they fought so hard to keep free), that there exist no help, for their ailments. They are truly the forgotten ones after war, at least the fallen are immortalized through memorial plaques and wall of the fallen soldiers and tomb of the unknown soldier....What have our country given to the returned soldiers? I really love this poem my friend and in this, you told and gave, a hero’s welcome, to the returned and placed face and voice, to those, that have yet, to be heard and sadly left unseen, due to governmental denial and recognition, of these war induced, combat deficiencies, which forces them, into emotionally challenged, anti-socially laden isolation, not only to the public but within their own homes, amongst their own families....You have awakened a sleeping giant in this one my friend.......Job well done and truly enjoyed......Jim
