Santa's Dilemma

Santa's Dilemma

Santa’s Dilemma

Winters drawing closer

dark nights almost here

Christmas time is coming

A whisper  I hear

Excited children everywhere

Write down wanted  lists

Couples form memories

Under mistletoe they kiss

Elsewhere elves make toys

Santa stays in bed

Dreading Christmas Eve

When he adorns the suit of red

Families decorate trees

Place Angels on the spire

Santa contemplates his job

Wishing to retire

You silly man, you can’t do that

His wife shouts in despair

What will all the children do

No presents will be there

Christmas time is coming

I’m sick of getting fat

Struggling in that big red suit

I’ve had enough of that

I’m going to do my level best

To lose my excess weight

I vow to cut the mince pies out

Before it is too late

My red suit doesn’t fit no more

The belt won’t fit my waist

Yet in every house I visit

I have to clear my plate

I get stuck in the chimneys

I don’t get any money

Singing songs about my plight

Children think it’s funny

You silly man his wife replies

Get up and get dressed

You only work one night a year

 Then you get to rest

Christmas is coming

Nativities done

Pantos and Parties

Yet still to come

Children Excited

Santa is booked

Presents are wrapped

Turkeys near cooked

Rudolph is ready

He’s polished his nose

In every garden

Waits a man made of snow

So put on your suit

Load up your sleigh

Deliver those presents

Get on your way

All this stress

To make the day worthwhile

Will be forgotten

When you see the children smile
