School

Names engraved in desks, chewing gum stuck to the chairs
Chalk screeching down the blackboard what it’s writing, no one cares
Everyone lives for playtime, football, skipping and chase
Who can score the most goals to be crowned the football Ace
The school bell spoils all the fun, back to the classroom again
Six and seven is thirteen and five add  five is ten
Story books and reading cards assess your reading age
Word perfect you have to be to turn to the next page
Success is when you finish the book and up a level you go
A word a week you have to learn to help your vocabulary grow
Spelling tests, timetables tests no calculator or spell check in sight
What a boost to your confidence when you know you’ve got them right
The school bell sounds, the end of the day, a quick charge for the door
Until tomorrow, the school bell rings and then we’re back for more

A nice poem that reminds us of all those typical things in school, but unfortunately for many millions of children not always occurring as well. My primary school was a horror worth narrating in a Halloween story, was a little better in high school, but my fondest memories of this period of learning are sealed in the school of art, actually art saved me from being a young and beautiful body.
I loved the poem, as I read it I could feel that unmistakable aroma to graphite, Eraser and all those objects and materials typical of the primary schools.
A greeting.
Glad you liked it, thanks for reading
