Sea Monkeys
The comic I gripped with my nine year old hands
Glued to the adventures of Spiderman,
I was so engrossed by the pages within,
Then the adventure stopped, I saw the adverts begin
-
Could this be true,? It's hard to believe
They promised a world in a tank, or was I being naive?
But the picture was clear, it showed Sea Monkeys with crowns!
The parcel finally came, my little heart was so let down...
-
So when the politicians, once in a while
Appear at your door with a needy smile,
"Can we rely on you?,will your X mark our spot?
Vote for us not the other lot!"

Now I'm much older, and more than a little bit wise
I watch TV but I don't buy their lies
You see I framed that old comic, it hangs on my wall,
A lesson for me, a lesson for all.
