Sea Monkeys

Sea Monkeys

The comic I gripped with my nine year old hands
Glued to the adventures of Spiderman,
I was so engrossed by the pages within,
Then the adventure stopped, I saw the adverts begin
-
Could this be true,? It's hard to believe
They promised a world in a tank, or was I being naive?
But the picture was clear, it showed Sea Monkeys with crowns!
The parcel finally came, my little heart was so let down...
-
So when the politicians, once in a while
Appear at your door with a needy smile,
"Can we rely on you?,will your X mark our spot?
Vote for us not the other lot!"
-
Now I'm much older, and more than a little bit wise
I watch TV but I don't buy their lies
You see I framed that old comic, it hangs on my wall,
A lesson for me, a lesson for all.

Hello John...

They have never knocked on my door...

I have never seen them put signs in yards...

The contest isn't honesty it's how good a lie sounds better than the other one...

Greatest liar...

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!

Oh wait...

Filet Mignon that's it...

Great write!

Thank you for sharing...

Hugs...

Dear John,

It is such a rare sight for my eyes to see
A politician who will not tell lies to me
An unusual occurance, on them I will dote
Forever their way, will I cast my vote

Peace and Love,
Larry xxx

Hi John..I remember ordering my Sea Monkeys too!  Lol..They are nothing more than brine shrimp!  Lol..But it was neat watching them through a magnifying glass go from four eyes, and then lose them down to two as they grew....lol  Just as politicians promise us this and that, advertisements entice to draw us in too with expectations that will be let down...great comparison...I do not watch the news for that reason too.  I understand....lol  Enjoyed. xo Cherie

Thanks Cherie

Yes they are cool and I suppose it was good preparation for life's disappointments.
At least I got a decent poem/parable out of the little buggers!

Many thanks

Wow u wrote on the demagogues in a fine super way. Indeed a lesson for all not to buy lies. You drew a fine analogy comparison. Thumbs up.

I like to know different conclusions .

A lovely take on a dream I often have, and nice to see another who writes with rhyme.

A good debut to cosmofunnel, you will enjoy your time here.

Welcome.

John
