Seems Like Yesterday

Inspired by the song, “Yesterday When I Was Young”, by Roy Clark
They flew by so very quickly, these years that I have lived;
Seventy-four, and now remembering them, such happiness me gives!
I’m still a first-grade schoolboy, Miss Getter teaches me;
Peppermint candies for the studious, I quickly learn to read!
.
In the sixth grade, I’m eleven, I meet my first heart throb;
In the eighth, I get Bar Mitzvahed, and do a bang-up job!
The next year, I’m in High School, four years I’ll ne’er forget;
I meet my little sweetheart, so very close we get!
.
Off to College then for four months, the scene just not for me;
Hustle pool for a little while, then a coin dealer do I be!
I meet a girl before I’m twenty, elope in just two weeks;
Two children and five years later, we climb our final peak!
.
It takes me till the fourth wife, to finally find “The One”;
My Soulmate for forever, my renaissance begun!
We’ve never had any children, I had four from marriages last;
Our babies were our two doggies, who so sadly now have passed!
.
Just yesterday I was playing Hopscotch, and singing in the rain;
But today, I am an old man, living my last refrain!
Where did all the time go, this express train to old age;
As I write this book about my past life, I fear the final page!
.
.
Once I was so young
Those days echo in my Soul
As my years now wane

My Dear Tony,
"Our Day Will Come", sang Ruby and The Romantics in 1959.
"My day came", the one that I nervously placed my first poem on Cosmo, and got amazing accolades from some VIP known as Tony Taylor. Through the last three years, the bond between us has been a harbinger for me, to create poetry.
On the lighter side, a large portion of my misspent later teenage years, was spent in poolrooms, with many shady characters. It took me not long to discover, that it was much more profitable to "hustle" coins, than pool.
Again, you have made another one of my days, with your praise.
Love you Bro,

Dear Terry,
After my third marital break-up, I didn't give up on love, but played the singles game for seven years. Then, out of a clear blue sky, came Linda, my Soulmate.
If you want further inspiration, read the poem I just posted called, "Love Will Find You".
Thank you for your most lovely comment.
Love,
Larry xxx
