Poem -

The sentence

Here’s a true story of life and the ways things are,

Hope you don’t mind but it goes quite far.

Two different towns, two different rapes,

I wish it wasn't so.

Take the first town, no common folk here,

Money is king, big houses mean no fear.

How wrong u were, to think in such a way,

Its the people who count.

The police got a lead, they caught the guy,

Makes u feel uneasy, if u catch his eye.

His lawyer is good, the best they say,

Surely justice will prevail.

The trial is played out, the justice system fails,

The defence take her apart, from the soul right to her nails.

The jury had no choice, but to set him free,

A beautiful family is broken.

In another town, the same crime is played out,

This young girl tried to scream and shout.

Its a council estate, a community to some,

Different justice will be used here.

The next day it all becomes clear,

Everyone asks around with no thought of fear,

Who could do such an act, and who was out that night,

The process has begun, a name is spoken once.

A form of justice, is played out to extreme,

Her family and friends could only dream.

He wont walk again, want ever do no harm.

The sentence has been passed.

What town would you choose, if you had a choice?

What would the girls say, let us use their voice.

I think laws were made, to benefit mankind,

I know where I stand.

Outstanding! Very much the way of our justice system. I would choose the second town. Just so we are clear. Enjoyed reading it. Thank you.
