Serenity in the sea

The waves rock the dock above me and I can feel their surge pulling at my limbs. A green haze surrounds me and it's weight fills my ears. I try to look into the distance but the water is too dense, I'm looking into a heavy expanse of salt. I focus on what's around me. The grey minoes dance dizzying circles around my feet and crabs scuttle amongst the muscles clinging to the pillars of the pier. Somebody jumps into the water and an explosion of bubbles blossoms around them. I suddenly feel the emptiness of my lungs and crave the alkaline air above me. I push myself towards the surface and feel the ocean gently pulling at my skin, trying to keep me in her embrace. Sharp air fills my lungs and stings my face but I'm quickly soothed by the touch of the August sun. I'm home. Safe in the constant motion of the tides and comforted by the heat of the summer. Not a worry feels my vulnerable mind and I rest. Finally. Finding serenity in the sea.Β
