Shadows

Bereft of a moral compass,
Innards wretched and torn,
Cottonmouth surreal and pompous,
Silent assassin in mourn.

Twinned, a shadow on the wall,
Blackened billow in follow,
Deaf ears to a beckoning call,
Vessel leased and left hollow.

Chasing demons in deficit,
Lights out wanton preferred,
State of mind left derelict,
Into the abyss submerged.

Vanquished breath is certain,
Inevitable, time is borrowed,
Before a cadaver lay beneath stone, I wish to outlive the sorrow.
